BAKU, 12 APR – RIA Novosti. Incumbent President Ilham Aliyev won with 86,03% of the votes in the presidential election after the processing of data from all polling stations, Chairman of the Central election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan Mazahir Panahov.
Early presidential elections took place on Wednesday in Azerbaijan. For the highest office fought eight candidates, including current President Ilham Aliyev. The final turnout in the elections, according to the CEC, made up 74,51%.
“The current President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev gains 86,03% of votes after processing the data from all points,” Panakhov said.
According to him, in the elections voted 3 962 123 people. “The number of processed ballots 3962 096” he said.
The “hot line” the Central election Commission has received about 300 complaints. The final turnout was 74.3 percent, said Panahov.
CEC of Azerbaijan, according to the Electoral code, to 21 APR should sum up the election and submit them to the constitutional court for approval. The constitutional court within 14 days after voting day, officially announces information on the results of presidential elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Previously made changes to the Constitution removed restrictions on number of presidential terms and increase their duration to seven years, so the next presidential election will be held in Azerbaijan only in 2025.
