MEXICO city, 3 Dec – RIA Novosti. Oceanographic research ship of the Russian Navy “amber” called off the search for the Argentine submarine “San Juan”, missing in the Atlantic ocean, reports local Agency Telam.
According to the Agency, a few hours ago “amber” left the area to refuel in Montevideo and then go to Buenos Aires, and more in this area will not return.
Russian honorary Consul in Mar del Plata Yuri Kuznetsov confirmed to the Agency that the ship has officially finished his work to find “San Juan”.
Thus, all foreign vessels, previously involved in the search, left the area of the Atlantic off the coast of Argentina.
“San Juan” stopped communicating 15 Nov 2017 during the transition from the naval base Ushuaia to Mar del Plata. At the time of last communication with submarines reported the accident. On Board were 44 people, including the first ever Argentinean woman-submariner Eliana Maria Krawczyk. Representatives of the Navy reported a single explosion, which can be associated with the disappearance of the “San Juan”.
