Moscow. March 5. INTERFAX – the head of the Synodal Department for external Church relations Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk is concerned with the abundance of cartoons with monsters on television.
“I remember the cartoons of my childhood were all very good, and the images that were created by our artists-cartoonists, it was a kind and beautiful images. When I now sometimes turn on the TV and get on the cartoon channel, as a rule, I see there are some monsters. The aesthetic paradigm which, with the help of these cartoons is laid in our children, in my opinion, very dangerous,” he said in the program “Church and world” on the channel “Russia-24” (VGTRK).
According to Bishop, the same applies to books: “those children’s books that we read in childhood, they were not only interesting, they were beautiful, they were beautiful, whether it is Winnie the Pooh, whether it’s Alice in Wonderland, whether it’s Russian tales”.
“And now, more and more literature appears, which, like this new cartoon promotes bad taste and all sorts of deformities, and this bothers me,” he said.
According to the Hierarch, the quality of literature for children must be monitored because it is very important not only what knowledge we teach children, but what flavor we are working with them.
