Jerusalem. 27 Feb. INTERFAX – Access to one of the main Christian shrines – the Church of the Holy Sepulchre is closed for three days in protest of the Church against the tax policy of the authorities of Jerusalem, said on Tuesday the newspaper “gaarets”.
According to the representative of the General Secretariat of the Greek Patriarchate Anna Koulouris, all three Christian confessions are unanimous in their opinion regarding the current situation and are willing to confront the decisions of the city authorities.
“All are serious. They really want to see changes before you start to solve the issue with the resumption of access”, – quotes its words of associated press.
Currently, the Church is still not allowed to visit the thousands of tourists and pilgrims.
The decision to close the Church indefinitely previously announced representatives of the Orthodox, Catholic and Armenian communities.
According to the newspaper Jerusalem post, this move was a reaction to the intentions of local authorities to charge Churches a penalty on the municipal property tax.
