Candidate Jim Carroll must be approved by the Senate
The President of the United States, Donald trump intends to appoint his assistant Jim Carroll â€“ head of the office of drug control. The official holding this position, usually called “the king of drugs.”
Carroll now holds the post of Deputy chief of staff of the White house. His candidacy must be approved by the Senate.
In a statement, the White house expressed confidence that Carroll will be able to “make significant progress in combating the opioid crisis, to reduce the use of drugs and to coordinate U.S. policy in this area.”
Previous nominees of trump’s Republican Congressman Tom Marino in October withdrew his candidacy after the media reported that he tried to get a law that would in the future hurt the fight against the opioid epidemic.
Jim Carroll â€“ a professional lawyer, who has previously worked in various Federal ministries and the Ford Corporation.
