SBU brought the case to the UOC-MP priest for the post on Facebook with the St. George ribbon

Moscow. 8 Feb. INTERFAX – the Ukrainian security Service started administrative proceedings against the clergyman of the Vinnytsia diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, doctor of theology hieromonk John (Kurmanova), who posted may 9, 2017 postcard with a picture of the ribbons.

“I gave the police their explanations (…), but there is still a court,” said the priest on the personal page in the social network.

At the same time, a cleric is not going to abandon their beliefs.

“First, I face fines, and with him gone, I can safely post images the ribbons anywhere? Secondly, when you pay a fine, will wear the St. George ribbon is open, as I think that paid for the opportunity. Well, and thirdly, when this stupid government will go from the scene, will seek material and moral compensation and an apology from the security service,” writes John.

“Interestingly enough, the prohibition to depict the swastika and other Nazi symbols are not. So, in (on) Ukraine you can safely walk the streets in the form of the SS,” he adds.

In conclusion, the priest asks all who are not afraid to post photos of ribbons in all the groups, “especially where there are Natsik”, and promises to do everything to SBU sorry that contacted him.

16 may 2017, the Verkhovna Rada in Ukraine has banned St. George ribbon. In the Code of administrative offences was included in the article “Production and promotion of St. George (guards) ribbon”. For public demonstration or wearing such a ribbon is a penalty.
