Court of arbitration for sport rejected the appeals of 47 of the Russians in non-admission to the Olympics

Sports arbitration court finally rejected the appeal 45 Russian athletes and two coaches on the decision of the International Olympic Committee to ban them for the Olympics in Pyeongchang. The decision was announced on 9 February, a few hours before the official opening of the Games, the press service of the court.

“A special Commission CAC rejected the appeals filed 32 Russian athletes February 6th and also filed 7 Feb 15 athletes and coaches against the IOC,” the statement reads.

The Commission admitted that the IOC decision was not discriminatory, but rather fair.

The IOC welcomed the decision of the arbitration, calling his support in the fight against doping.

“We welcome the decision of the court of arbitration for Sport, which supports the fight against doping and gives clarity to all athletes”, – stated in the message of the IOC on Twitter.

Earlier, the IOC had suspended the national team from the winter Games in 2018 in South Korea. It was reported that to go to the Olympics will be able not only seen in the use of doping athletes, but only under a neutral flag without the emblem of his country on the sports form.

5 February it became known that the IOC decided not to invite to the Olympics 13 Russian athletes and two coaches acquitted earlier sports arbitration.

Note, the winter Olympic games 2018 will be held in South Korean Pyeongchang from 9 to 25 February.
