Polestar 1 hybrid to go on ‘brand’ around the world before the 2019 launch

Polestar is sending its 1 coupe hybrid on a brand-building world tour that will begin next month at the Geneva motor show and reach a climax at its public launch in the middle of next year.

Worldwide sales of the model, which is the first production car from Volvo’s new electric performance of the brand, will start immediately after. It will be priced from £ 120,000 and is only available with the guide to the left.

According to the recent appointment Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath, who also continues as director of design of Volvo, Polestar, will become Volvo “diamond technology” that, after the 1 hits the market, it will make only all-electric high performance cars. The company is preparing for the 2020 launch of the all-electric Polestar 2 crossover lounge that has a close relationship Ingenlath, the Concept 40.2 already seen at the paris motor show. A full-sized Polestar 3 SUV will arrive after.

The 1 coupe, which is an all-carbon fiber body based on a version of the S90 platform and just under 600bhp available from a front-facing 2.0-litre turbo engine, plus two electric motors on the rear axle, it is much more of a halo car. In Geneva, the 1 will be shown to a group of more than 100 potential customers who will then be invited to confirm their interest by sending a deposit of €2500 (about £2227). The machine is the most European appearances, possibly, including a guide to debut this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed — before leaving for the UNITED states and then in China, where a special production facility that can handle carbon-fiber structures is already under construction in close proximity to Volvo’s existing plant in Chengdu.

2 (imagined by Autocar below), an all-steel hatchback sedan that shares the Volvo smaller, CMA platform, and uses the external design of the well-received Concept 40.2 car will go into production late next year for sale in the early months of 2020. Will be done on both the left and the right guide. Ingenlath not say where the car will be built, but is keen to point out its suitability as a rival for Tesla Model 3. Polestar is understood to still decide the details of its powertrain design, although the two electric motors (one front, one rear) are recommended. The car should cost “40,000 euros” and have a practical range of around 200 km.

3 (imagined by Autocar referred to above), radically style, low-roof SUV that the next generation of Volvo’s SPA grande platform of the machine and are a mixture of aluminium and steel body construction, is intended to be a voice for a 2022 launch is likely to be made at the factory of Chengdu. When all three models are sold as anticipated, the Polestar volume could reach 80,000 to 90,000 cars a year (1 accounting for 500 and the 2 of about 50,000 inhabitants). Ingenlath says the models are taken into consideration, even in areas that would not be mainstream enough to suit the Volvo.

In addition to developing his rule-breaking new models, the Polestar is working on measuring marketing set-up aimed at increasing the convenience for the owners and moving beyond the traditional adversarial vendor-customer relationship. The car will be at the expense of a monthly subscription, which includes insurance, maintenance and possibly customer rental days (in the case where they need a van or fantasy, a sports car for a couple of days, for example). The car can be picked up at customers ‘ homes or places of work and after the intervention.

Polestar commercial director, Jon Goodman expects to select approximately 80 Polestar ‘spaces’ around the world to sell his car, with about eight in italy.
