South Korea hopes the visit of the “distinguished guests” from Russia to the Olympics

TOKYO, 29 Jan — RIA Novosti. The heads of States and governments of 20 countries will arrive in South Korea on the occasion of the February winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and Seoul also expects the arrival of the high guests from Russia, said the second Deputy Chairman of the national security Council in the administration of South Korean President’s Us Gvan PHE.

“We hope that in the case of Russia will be fully resolved current problems with the IOC in the Republic of Korea will be able to bring high-ranking officials,” said Us Gvan PHE on Monday at a briefing in Seoul.

According to him, in connection with the Olympics South Korea will visit the UN Secretary General and the presidents of Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia. Expected of Prime Ministers of Japan, Norway, the Netherlands, Finland, Liechtenstein, Governor-General of Canada, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, princes of Denmark and Monaco.

South Korea also looked forward to the visit of the king of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf, and the USA will be represented by Vice-President Mike Pence.

China will send a special envoy of the President of China, member of the political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Han Zheng, told Us Gvan PHE.

The representative of the presidential administration of South Korea said that it will be the largest number of participants winter Olympic games: 2943 athlete will come on them from 92 countries.

Olympics in Pyeongchang to be held between 9 and 25 February. As previously reported, the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) on January 25 announced the list of the 169 athletes who entered the bid for the Games in 2018. On 27 January, the IOC has registered the list. A number of leaders of the Russian team in their sports has not received from the IOC invitation to the Olympics.
