Moscow. 1 Feb. INTERFAX – Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill gave a PEP talk to the athletes flying to the winter Olympic games in Korea, and urged each of them to remember about personal responsibility before the Motherland.
“We talked with his Holiness Patriarch last Sunday, it was a very warm conversation. His fatherly edification and blessings the athletes in a difficult situation is to remember their personal responsibility, the dignity, behavior and show on sports fields and beyond them the example that has always characterized the Russian people as ready to face the difficulties and to show their best qualities and in joy and in sorrow” – said in an interview to “Interfax-Religion” the spiritual father of the Russian Olympians Archpriest Andrey Alexeev.
The priest said that the Patriarch also urged athletes to unite to, “to gather strength and to remember that we represent a great country.”
“It’s a big responsibility for everyone, including for me,” said the Confessor.
He said that for each athlete to compete under a neutral flag uncomfortable and unpleasant, but the Russian people, the past in the history of the different twists and turns, do not have to get used to such phenomena.
