Patriarch Kirill called on the Russian Parliament to adopt the law on the special status of large families

Moscow. 25 Jan. INTERFAX – Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill considers it important to adopt the bill on the special status of large families.

“Thought would also be important to support the initiative of large families, advocating for the adoption of a law regulating their status,” he said on Thursday, speaking in the Federation Council in the framework of the XXVI Christmas readings.

The Patriarch said that he knew about the criticism of this law, and called it “a normal process”.

“In fact, the appeal of people who care about the future of large children, should pay attention and really to make some law on the status of these families,” he said.

According to the Primate of the Russian Church, “it would be fair, especially given the situation with the creation in several countries of the special legal regime for groups of individuals based on sexual orientation.”

The Patriarch wonders why some Western parliaments adopted laws against groups of non-traditional guidance, and we have difficulties to give a special status to large families.

“I think it would have enormous symbolic value and the world would show a difference approach: Russia cares about the future”, – concluded the Primate.

The speaker of Council of Federation Valentina Matvienko supported the initiative of the Patriarch and promised to create a Committee to work on the bill.
