In Kiev, died today, the last of the organizers and participants in the uprising at the death camp Sobibor 96-year-old Arkady Wallpaper. It is reported by the head of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee Eduard Dolinsky.

Arkady Weisspapir was born in 1921 in the village of beaver Kut, Kherson region. In 1941, Weisspapir was drafted into the Red army and took part in the defense of Kiev.

Weisspapir was seriously wounded in battle and was captured during the stay in the hospital. In 1943 he was sent to the death camp Sobibor, in which for the year 1942-1943 was destroyed more than 250 thousand people. Weisspapir participated in the organization of the uprising in the camp in October 1943, and was snuck into the territory of the USSR, where he joined a partisan unit.

Wallpaper – one of the 53 participants in the uprising at Sobibor, surviving to the end of the war. During the war the whole family of Arcadia was destroyed – eldest brother died at the front, mother, five-year sister and all the relatives in Beaver Kuta shot by the Nazis.
