Documentary filmmaker and producer Andrew Zagdanski reported that in new York, under the Consulate, the activists held a rally demanding the release of a wrongfully convicted in Russia Ukrainian Director Oleg Sentsov. About this he wrote on his page in Facebook.
“We came in and said, “Release Oleg Sentsov”. And we said that we remember about him. We will think about it in the new year’s eve. We wish Sentsov freedom in 2018. … And infinite number of other innocent prisoners whose names we do not know,” said Zagdanski.
Recall that on 25 August 2015, the Russian court in Rostov-on-don has sentenced the Ukrainian film Director from Crimea Oleg Sentsov to 20 years in a penal colony on charges of preparing attacks in the Crimea, and a Ukrainian Oleksandr Kolchenko – to 10 years of imprisonment in a correctional colony of strict regime. Sentsov and Kolchenko in February 2016, was transferred to the Chelyabinsk region. Later Sentsov, who was in the colony of Yakutsk, was transferred to the colony in Irkutsk. International organizations have recognized that the case against Sentsov and Kolchenko is fabricated, and criticized in the Russian Federation, demanding to release them. Russia on calls is not responding. On December 28 President Petro Poroshenko said that he had given instructions to immediately resume negotiations with Russia on the return of Ukrainians who are in prison in Russia and in the occupied territories.
