Chapter Everton Farhad Moshiri told the reason why striker Romelu Lukaku left the club and moved to Manchester United last summer.
“I spent two summers trying to keep Lukaku. I spoke with his agent, with himself, with his mother and family, and we were able to keep him for one year. Last summer we offered him a fantastic contract which interrupted all of the other suggestions, but he just didn’t want to stay.
I really did everything I could. We offered him an environment in which you can’t believe it. Our contract was more favorable than the offer, which at that time did Chelsea, and his agent was willing to accept our agreement.
We were in the meeting room and in that moment, Lukaku received a call from his mother. She stated that she made a pilgrimage to Africa and got a voodoo prophecy, which says that Romelu should leave Everton and move to Chelsea.
In the end, all my attempts to persuade him failed – the world is unfair to us. I think now Lukaku is worth around 120 million pounds (about 140 million euros – approx. ed.) and for us to make this purchase possible. The problem was that he had in mind left us, although it was still part of the club“, – quotes the words Moshiri The Guardian.
Recall that the forward Manchester United Romelu Lukaku was injured in the match against Southampton and the team’s coach Jose Mourinho said the timing of its recovery.
