Patriarch Kirill sees a potential threat in the development of the digital economy

Moscow. January 7. INTERFAX – Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill concerned about protecting liberties in the conditions of active introduction of digital technology in the field of Economics.

“Undoubtedly, the introduction of digital technology will ensure greater effectiveness of the decision-making process, which, of course, good. But the Church has another notion of security. (…) The Church is very concerned that modern technology is totally able to limit human freedom,” he said Sunday in a Christmas interview to TV channel “Russia-1”.

According to the Primate, it is not only about the possibility of ill-intentioned people or forces to use digital technology in order to provide irreparable damage to the country, society or someone from the people is important, not only technological but also spiritual level.

“Here let me give you an small example. We have hotheads who enthusiastically talk about the need to eliminate cash and go only to the electronic card. This will ensure transparency, control, and well, all those arguments with which many are familiar. And all this is so. And if suddenly at some point in the historical development of access to these cards will open in response to your loyalty?” – asked the Patriarch.

He recalled that today, in order to obtain citizenship one of the European countries, the people who live there and who wish to be naturalized to obtain citizenship or residence permit, I suggest to watch the movie, which tells about the life of the country, its customs, laws. In this video, according to the Patriarch, clearly presents the topic of LGBT, and watching the movie asks the question: do you agree with all of this? And if one accepts all the foregoing, it will be either a citizen, or get a residence permit, and if not, then do not get it.

“But if access to Finance will be limited to that kind of conditions? Here about these dangers today the Church says in a loud voice”, – concluded the Patriarch.
