Italian Ministry of foreign Affairs called for the implementation of the Minsk agreements

The foreign Minister of Italy Angelino Alfano called on all parties to the conflict in the Donbas to implement the Minsk agreements. Treatment of a diplomat due to the fact that since 1 January Italy began to preside in OSCE, said in a statement on the organization’s website.

“The crisis in and around Ukraine have questioned the principles on which the OSCE is based. Italy will continue to support all efforts of OSCE for the peaceful settlement of the conflict and urges the parties to the execution of the Minsk agreements in full”, – he said.

According to Alfano, the main priorities of the Italian chairmanship in the OSCE will strengthen the multi-vector approach as a tool that will restore the “spirit of Helsinki” and the further strengthening of peace, security, stability and cooperation.

Italy intends to strengthen the OSCE’s work in the direction of other protracted conflicts.

We will remind, OSCE — Organization for security and cooperation in Europe, is the world’s largest regional organization dealing with security issues. It brings together 57 countries located in North America, Europe and Central Asia. In Ukraine since March 2014, operates a Special monitoring mission to Ukraine (SMM), the beginning of which was initiated by appeal of the government of the country in the OSCE and the consensus decision of all 57 countries participating in the OSCE. SMM is an unarmed civilian mission, which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in all regions of Ukraine. Its main task is to impartially and objectively observe the situation in Ukraine and report on it, and also to promote dialogue between all parties to the conflict.
