Star Wars Jedi warriors normally emerge victorious in their battles against the evil of the First Order or box office rivals.
But the Force wasn’t with Star Wars: The Last Jedi in the battle for the UNITED kingdom, the most popular film of 2017.
The enemy to defeat the action space is the sequel to the end of the year at the box office ranking was Emma Watson, with her hit beauty and the Beast.
Beauty and the Beast, earned £4.1 m over The Last Jedi in 2017.
Episode VIII of the long sci-fi franchise had taken £68.3 m by the end of 31 December, according to the Press Association.
But while the beauty and the Beast was released in the month of March and now disappeared from the cinema, The Last Jedi is still playing on hundreds of screens, so the total will continue to grow in the next few weeks.
Beauty and the Beast was also a great success all over the world, of which $1.26 billion (£929m) at global box offices.
