A weapon that had been located in the interior of the house

A 46-year-old man was killed sometime around 2 in the morning of this Wednesday in the house, in The Street, Southport, and died at the scene despite receiving treatment from paramedics.

Detective Acting Inspector Matt Ward said the woman, who lives in the house, called triple zero to report the shooting.

She was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a category H weapon on Wednesday night.

Det Act Insp Ward said that a weapon had been situated in the interior of the house, but could not confirm if it was the weapon used in the shooting.

The police also interviewed two other people who were in the house at the time of the shooting, while a child and two adults were in a caravan on the property. The man, who does not live in the property, is believed to have come in sometime during the night.

“Suffice it to say that he had not been there for a considerable period of time,” Det Act Insp Ward said.

He said that although there was no history of domestic violence with the couple, it was an avenue that the police were investigating.
