In Poland there are tens of thousands of refugees from Ukraine, – the Consul

In 2017, with a request to the Polish authorities on the granting of international protection addressed 625 Ukrainians, consequently, tens of thousands of refugees in Poland. Comments about this “112 Ukraine” said the head of the consular Department of the Embassy of Ukraine in Poland Svetlana Rat.

According to her, in comparison with previous years the number of Ukrainian refugees in Poland or willing to obtain international protection has declined, and the figure sounded by the head of the Polish Cabinet, is not true.

“The theme of the actual number of refugees from Ukraine in Poland we ask not for the first time, because this issue was also raised by Prime Minister Szydlo, now Morawicki, they call the number of refugees from Ukraine are high, though actually according to the official information of the office for foreigners in Poland during January-November 2017 this administration has asked all 625 of citizens of Ukraine with a request to provide them with international protection. Compared to previous years, if we take in 2014, this number has decreased in 4 times, as compared with 2016, in 2 times. Asked 1306 on international protection in 2016, is among the citizens of Ukraine. In General, 21% of Ukrainian citizens asked for refugee status in 2017 of the total number of foreign citizens who apply for international protection,” she said.

Rat noted that Ukrainian citizens are moving to Poland and other EU countries for employment.

“Our citizens arriving to the EU and, in particular, on the territory of Poland, we regard other countries as labor migrants. It is primarily the people who come for employment, training, so to say that all these persons — refugees, there is no moral law,” – said the diplomat.

She added that the statements of the Polish authorities about the tens of thousands of refugees from Ukraine is justification Warsaw before the European Union in connection with the unwillingness to follow its migration policy.

“I think it is an internal policy it is the policy of fears that migrants from other countries of migration risk has not been adopted here. Ukrainians in any case can not be regarded as a bargaining chip in this. This is a purely political question, the political aspect and justification of the Republic of Poland to other EU countries that do not accept migrants from other countries of migration risk”, – stated the Ukrainian Consul.

As earlier reported, Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki said that the authorities had supposedly taken “several dozen, maybe hundreds of thousands refugees from Ukraine”.

Recall that the number of countries in Eastern Europe declared their unwillingness to open their borders to migrants. In particular, the Polish government added that ease tensions on the Eastern flank of the European Union, taking “many refugees” from Ukraine.
