Pushkov called cynicism new year’s address Poroshenko to residents of Donbass

MOSCOW, 1 Jan — RIA Novosti. Russian Senator Alexey Pushkov called the cynical new year’s address of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to Donbass residents.

In his speech, the Ukrainian leader congratulated New year to inhabitants of the Crimea and uncontrollable Ukraine territories of Donbass.

“Your house — Ukraine”, — said Poroshenko.

“After several years of attacks and a complete blockade of Donbas residents heard from Poroshenko that “their house — Ukraine”. The cynicism seems to have no borders,” said the Russian Senator.

Crimea became a Russian region after the referendum in 2014, where more than 90 percent of the inhabitants of the Peninsula voted for joining Russia. Ukrainian authorities continue to consider Crimea as Ukrainian territory and called the Crimea “temporarily occupied territory”. However, the Russian authorities have repeatedly noted that the Crimean people in a democratic way and in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter voted for reunification with Russia. As stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Crimea issue “is closed permanently.”

In 2014, Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the breakaway LC and the DNI, who, after a coup in Ukraine in February 2014, declared independence. According to latest information from the UN, during the conflict killed more than ten thousand people.
