Erdogan urged to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine

ANKARA, 13 Dec — RIA Novosti. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has proposed to declare Jerusalem the capital of Palestine.

According to him, the United States “tramples on international norms,” when recognized the city as Israel’s capital.

“Enough to walk a few steps, but to understand that the city is under occupation. Israel is a terrorist state. Terrorists-military grab kids and throw them in jail,” said the President of Turkey, speaking at an extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic cooperation in Istanbul.

He called to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of “occupied Palestine” and thanked countries that condemned the decision of Donald trump.

“I believe that the 196 member countries of the UN will show its correct position. The United States can be a strong nuclear power. But the whole world is not theirs,” added the Turkish leader.

In the Kremlin, commenting on the words of Erdogan, said that his position does not coincide with the Russian.

Last week trump announced the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and signed a document about transferring the U.S. Embassy from tel Aviv.

The decision of the United States approved Israel, but it caused a negative reaction from many countries, primarily countries in the Middle East. The indignation of the Palestinians resulted in calls for a third intifada, dozens of skirmishes, armed attacks and rocket fire on the Western Bank of the Jordan river.
