Football: FIFA to start testing video replay system this season

The President of the football Federation of Ukraine Andriy Pavelko said that the system “Live assistant referee” (VAR) can start to test in the Premier League already this season.

“We appealed to the International football Association Board (IFAB) with a letter in which he expressed a desire to join the program testing system “Video assistant referee” (VAR). As you know, the IFAB allowed a two-year experiment to test the system “Live assistant referee”. FIFA this year has tested the system at the time of the world championship among 20-year-olds and during the confederations Cup.

You need to fulfill a number of requirements IFAB. It is not only the technical requirements for the quality of the broadcast matches: the number of cameras, equipment, locations for viewing and other details. It is also certain requirements for arbitrators, which must pass the relevant training course. IFAB sets forth quite strict requirements, but we hope that we have enough time to prepare the winter off-season. Going to test the system, perhaps from separate games of increased complexity. Although the final decision on this issue will take closer to the beginning of the second half of the season,” said Pavelko.

We will remind, the head coach of the national team of Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko has asked UFF to organize the spring four friendly matches. One of them can be played with the Brazilian national team.
