Andreevsky flags of the black sea fleet was consecrated in Crimea

Simferopol. 13 Dec. INTERFAX – the rite of the solemn consecration of St. Andrew’s flags of the warships and auxiliary vessels of the black sea fleet of Russia took place on Wednesday in Sevastopol, the day of commemoration of the Apostle Andrew, the head of Department of information support of the black sea fleet captain 1st rank Vyacheslav Trukhachev.

“Service was headed by the Dean of Sevastopol district Archpriest Sergei, who chanted a prayer to the Apostle Andrew consecrated St Andrew’s flags and handed them to the commanders of ships and captains of ships”, – said V. Trukhachev.

The consecration took place in the Vladimir Cathedral – burial vault of Russian admirals, gathering representatives of the crews of all naval formations of the black sea fleet.

The tradition of consecration of the flags on the black sea fleet resumed in 1997 and supported for the past 20 years.
