The square near the Russian Embassy in Kiev want to call in honor Nemtsov

The Commission on names for the mayor of Kiev supported the initiative of the mayor of the capital Vitaly Klitschko on the name of the square near the Russian Embassy in honor of Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov. About this in his Facebook said the Deputy of city Council Andrey Andreev.

“The Commission on names of the members of the Commission supported the request of the mayor of Kiev on the name of the Park on the corner of the street Surikova and Povitroflotskyi Avenue in honor of Boris Nemtsov,” he wrote.

Andreev called “very symbolic” the fact that the yet unnamed Park is located close to the Russian Embassy.

According to the Deputy of the agenda of the meeting of the Commission, the proposed name of the square will be submitted for public discussion.


February 27, 2015 Boris Nemtsov was shot dead by unknown in the center of Moscow. In March of the same year the FSB announced the arrest of suspects in the murder of opposition leader.
