Tillerson assured European allies to support US

The Secretary of state of the United States spoke before journalists together with the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini

U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson on Tuesday assured that the United States remains committed to supporting European allies, in an effort to reduce their anxiety about the foreign policy of President Donald trump.

“Partnership between America and the European Union… based on shared values, shared challenges in terms of ensuring security and prosperity on both sides of the Atlantic, and we remain committed to those objectives,” said Tillerson before the working dinner with the foreign Ministers of the 28 EU countries.

During a brief speech to reporters with the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini, after which the diplomats did not answer questions, Tillerson added that his visit demonstrates “the steadfast U.S. commitment to the European Alliance and the important role that the Alliance plays in achieving our common objectives in the field of security”.
