Fisker Orbit autonomous shuttle due in ‘smart cities’ next year

Fisker boss Henrik Fisker has told Autocar that his company’s new Orbit autonomous shuttle could come to the uk next year if there is demand for it.

“It’s going to be [in the uk] as soon as someone orders it, because we don’t need to worry about to the right or to the left with full autonomy of the vehicle,” he said.

The model is a futuristic electric passenger vehicles, which the brand said has a interior comparable to a hotel of a car interior.

Designed for use in ‘smart cities’ – highly connected and digitized urban environments – the shuttle service is a shared vehicle that can operate in a totally autonomous fashion.

The move has been produced in collaboration with China’s Hakim Group Only, connected to a technology provider, and the first will be used in the company’s home city of Hangzhou, which is a smart city. Here, the Orbit will be able to connect with the urban environment of the network.

The first of the Orbits will take to the roads in October 2018.

Fisker told the Coach that his company has already received the interest of several corporate campuses,” which suggests the transport service could be used for the transportation of employees across company, university and research centers in the not-too-distant future.

Fisker is yet to reveal the details of your transfer in the powertrain, but the brand has recently a patent application for what is described as the advancement of solid-state battery technology.

The company of the Emotion of the electric coupe is due in 2019 and uses this technology to allow a claim of 400 miles of range.
