Moscow. 29 Nov. INTERFAX – Russian President Vladimir Putin said the unity of the Russian Orthodox Church with the people, highlights its contribution to the consolidation of society and hopes that the current Council of bishops will cause a public outcry.
The head of state sent greetings to the participants of the Moscow Council of bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the restoration of the Patriarchate in our country.
“The decision on revival of the Patriarchal Ministry, adopted by the local Council of 1917-1918, was a great, a truly historic event in the life of the Russian Orthodox Church, is largely determined by its high ascetic mission. Despite the trials, the Church has always been with his people, sharing the joys and troubles, sincerely aspired for the preservation in society of moral, Patriotic values, ideals of peace, goodness and justice”, – stated in the message of the President.
He recalled that in the years of the great Patriotic war the Church “supported and inspired people, helped them to find spiritual support”.
Vladimir Putin stressed that in our days the Russian Church expanded its Ministry: it pays relentless attention to the problems of education and of charity, education of the younger generation, protection of family, motherhood and childhood.
“And, of course, a valuable contribution to society consolidation, preservation of interethnic peace and consent in the development of a constructive dialogue with government on critical issues of life in the country”, – said Vladimir Putin.
He expressed confidence that the current Council of bishops will be held in a productive, constructive way, will cause a public outcry.
