Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe during his address to the nation broadcast on state television deviated from the previously agreed text of the speech, which assumed the announcement of his retirement, reports Bloomberg, citing three unnamed members of the ruling party.
According to officials, it is not known whether the statement Mugabe’s “final act of defiance” or a consequence of the fact that he read the wrong notes. They added that the ruling party “Zimbabwe African national Union — Patriotic front” (ZANU PF) on Monday the Parliament will begin discussing the proposal to “put an end to the” reign of Mugabe.
