Patriarch Kirill urges to cultivate in people a strong rejection of revolutions and civil conflicts

Moscow. 23 Nov. INTERFAX – Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill urged to educate the people to the categorical rejection of revolutions and rebellions.

“The year of the centennial memories (of the revolution – “if”) needs all of us to lead to a positive result to some sort of understanding of what never, under any circumstances, should people do and what lessons should be learned from even the most tragic pages of our history,” he said Thursday before the meeting of the Supreme Church Council.

The Patriarch wished that “the memory of these tragic events” helped us, first to the shepherds, “to educate the people to the categorical rejection of revolutions, civil conflicts, rebellions, repressions and all that straining life people and throw the country in the past”.

According to Patriarch Kirill, the Russian Orthodox Church the main event of the XX century is a feat of new martyrs who suffered for faith from the Bolsheviks. Speaking of which, the Primate said that this topic is not received in the year of the anniversary of the revolution the attention that it rightfully deserves.

“Unfortunately, the opening of the memory Garden (at Butovo, which killed tens of thousands of political prisoners, including martyrs for the faith – “if”) has not been awarded proper attention from the public and the media, but this memorial is not conditional to place the memorial on the spot where people were shot, and where they lie their remains”, – said the Patriarch.
