Immigrant from Uzbekistan accused of killing eight people and attempted murder of 12 people in new York
A Federal Grand jury approved the indictment in the case of a native of Uzbekistan, Saipov Saifullo of 22 points in connection with the death of eight people in a result of a collision of a truck on the bike path in new York.
The Ministry of justice said that the prosecution Saipov was charged Tuesday in Federal court in Manhattan.
He is accused of killing eight people, the attempted murder of 12 people, providing and attempting to provide material support to Islamic state and the violence and destruction of a vehicle that led to the deaths of people.
Saipov, who came to the U.S. from Uzbekistan, was wounded by police and hospitalized. He was arrested after hitting several people on a busy bike path in the afternoon on October 31.
“It is assumed that consumed with hatred and a perverted ideology, Saifullo Saipov Sunny day away on the truck on the sidewalk and bike path in the West Side of Manhattan, killing eight innocent people and injuring at least 12 others,” said acting U.S. attorney for the southern district of new York Joon Kim.
“Islamic state” has claimed responsibility for the attack using a truck, which was the largest attack in new York in the number of victims after 11 September 2001.
