Former Partridge Family star and singer David Cassidy, 67 years, is sick in the hospital, but is reported to be conscious, after suffering multiple organ failure earlier this week.
A spokesperson said he was admitted to the hospital in Fort Lauderdale, on Wednesday, after suffering pain.
He is suspected of suffering from renal failure and needs a liver transplant.
Earlier this year, the singer said he had dementia and would stop touring in order to “enjoy life”.
A spokesman for Cassidy said the Press Association that he was aware, following reports he had been put in a coma.
She said he was surrounded by family.
The singer’s health has deteriorated since more than two months, entertainment site TMZ has reported.
Cassidy shot to fame playing Keith Partridge in The Partridge Family – a sitcom of the 1970’s about a mother and five children who have formed a rock band. The show spawned hit songs like I Think I Love You.
The former idol went to the huge success of the solo career of the singer and pop idol.
In recent years, he has spoken about his struggles with alcohol.
In 2015, it has filed for bankruptcy. Between 2010 and 2014, he was arrested three times for drunken driving, and was ordered to rehabilitation in the context of his sentence in 2014. He has been divorced three times.
A video has emerged on social media of him performing earlier this year, has raised concerns about his health.
