The court in closed session will examine video interviews of high-ranking officials in the case of the Maidan

The Pechersky district court of Kiev to study behind closed doors video interviews of higher officials of Ukraine in the process at the request of the GPU to hold a special pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on suspicion of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych for crimes against participants of the Maidan 18-20 February 2014. This became known at today’s meeting of the Pechersk court.

In closed hearings, insisted prosecutors, in their opinion, the testimony of these people can hurt pre-trial investigation.

“We are not talking about concealing any information, the fact that at this stage there is a pretrial investigation, and only the testimony of individual witnesses, we ask you to explore in closed session. After that, I announced this in the courtroom – I ask that the process was open and transparent manner. When considering the merits of the case all documents will be published and will be investigated in open court,” he said on the sidelines of the court, the Prosecutor Denis Ivanov, in comments to the TV channel “112 Ukraine”.

In turn, the lawyers intend to appeal the decision.

“The court was forced to make a decision, banned contrary to the principle of transparency, to publicly explore the materials. This decision will be appealed, and the defense will do everything that the people learned at last that these four years did the GPU that is in this business and who finally have to answer for the deaths of our citizens,” – said the lawyer Yanukovych Vitaly Serdyuk.

Earlier, the PGO announced a new suspicion of Yanukovych, Zakharchenko, Yakymenko and several other former officials on the “square” 2014. They are suspected of illegal preventing of the organization and conduct of rallies, marches and demonstrations, in the organization of exceeding the law enforcement authorities and their authority, premeditated murder of two and more persons, finished attempted premeditated murder of two and more persons, infliction of intentional serious bodily injury, as well as in the organization of the terrorist act.

We will remind, in March 2017, the Military Prosecutor submitted to the court indictment against Yanukovych. He is suspected of committing crimes under part 1 of article 111 (“high treason”), part 5 article 27, part 3 of article 110 (“Complicity in deliberate acts committed with the aim of changing the boundaries of the territory and the state border of Ukraine”) and part 5 article 27, part 2 of article 437 (“complicity in the waging of aggressive war”) the criminal code of Ukraine.

Earlier the lawyer Yanukovych Vitaliy Serdyuk said that the attorney General “establishes clear deadlines” in this case, in particular, on August 24. The Prosecutor’s office the statement was denied.
