The United States urged Damascus and the Iraqi Kurds to cooperate

The state Department called upon to resolve existing problems within the framework of the Iraqi Constitution

The United States urged the government of Iraq and Regional government of Iraqi Kurdistan to resolve their differences. The state Department’s statement to this effect was made on Monday shortly after the leader of Iraqi Kurds Massoud Barzani said that he will resign this week.

“We call on all Kurdish parties to support the KRG (the Regional government of Iraqi Kurdistan in its efforts to resolve the existing problems before the end of his term and to prepare for elections in 2018”, – reads the statement of foreign policy Department of the USA.

The document expresses approval of the decision Barzani and appeal to the Central government of Iraq and the Kurdish leadership “to take immediate action to resolve the existing problems in the framework of the Iraqi Constitution”.
