The Chairman of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Deputy Refat Chubarov called on all Ukrainian political prisoners illegally held on the territory of the Russian Federation not to succumb to persuasion and blackmail invaders. He said this during a briefing after the arrival of Ilmi Umerov and Akhtem chigusa, the broadcast led the TV channel “112 Ukraine”.
“I want to say one thing – it is very important who gets there, to the Russian invaders, the first day they behaved to not buy on persuasion, blackmail invaders. In cases when the person is not cooperating with investigators, his “rescue” easier. I would like to know”, he said.
We will remind, earlier Chubarov announced the names of Ukrainians, who are illegally detained in Russia. Also today I returned to Ukraine as Deputy Chairman of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov and Ahtem Chiygoz.
Note that in September this year, Akhtem Chiygoz was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment for “organizing and participating in mass riots at the walls of the Crimean Parliament on 26 February 2014.” During the trial, he pleaded not guilty.
Ilmi Umerov, the occupation authorities also in September was sentenced to two years in prison and banned from social activities for two years. He was charged under article 280.1 of the criminal code – public appeals to implementation of actions aimed at violating the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation.
Sentences Umarova and Chilgoza condemned President Petro Poroshenko, the Ukrainian foreign Ministry, the Council of Europe, the Western countries and a number of human rights organizations.
25 October Umerov and Chiygoza was freed and handed to Turkey. According to Irina Gerashchenko, in the negotiations about the liberation of Russia demanded that Chiygoz and umer wrote a note to Putin for clemency.
While Poroshenko thanked the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his efforts to free Deputy Chairman of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
In Turkey Umerov and Chiygoz passed a medical examination and they had health problems.
