Of course, “Matilda” is not as bad as ridiculing images of Christ and the virgin, as performances in the style of 1920-1930-ies, when blew up churches, killed clergy and laity. For our historical consciousness about the tragic time of Russian and world history, named after the ballerina of active behavior is just another prank secular consciousness. ‘ve been doing this since the Enlightenment, and exposing religious and traditional myths until the XX century. Then took the baton to postmodernism, which had already exposed everything, including the myth of the Enlightenment. The whole mass culture of the last century was charged with the energy that arose from decay of traditional values, the sanctity of the saints, the greatness of the great. “Matilda” went on the old and familiar ways and therefore was not original.
Why is the film even before its release caused the rejection of a large number of people that have not been and will not be monarchists? The point here is not Orthodoxy, not a king and not a history. The case in the present day.
You need to call a spade a spade
In the current political situation “Matilda” – the first attempt at de-legitimization of the annexation of Crimea to Russia, the devastation of the unprecedented consolidation of Russian society and government, which he called “Crimean consensus”. The Crimean consensus is the ardent desire of the company to overcome historical gaps between tsarist, Soviet and modern Russia, this desire to return to big country and big history is the desire to preserve the spirit of the Immortal regiment throughout the years, this desire to upgrade and move on. It is not only the unity of the society based on patriotism and traditional values, but a situation when the government and social the majority of people think in the same way, feel whole. Each month in this consensus leads to the accumulation of historical and symbolic resource that in the future you will experience more than one year of the crisis.
It’s not another glamour film, the content of which after the show no one will not be discussed, and in fear of losing the Crimean consensus, the Foundation of which was laid so many efforts over the past 17 years. Social most may love or not love the king, but intuitively perceives aggressive and peremptory lobbying this picture as a betrayal. Not the king himself.
In connection with this information the conflict over the movie “Matilda” has acquired in the information space expressed a political voice. The main stakeholder of the conflict are liberal protest-movement in a wider, philosophical meaning. One of the strategic objectives of protest-liberal circles in Russia today – to stop the ongoing process of consolidation of society, to prevent the consolidation of a new consensus based on traditional values, return to the old liberal consensus.
In the period 2014-2017 in the Russian information space does not have a single theme, which would represent a significant threat to the new consensus. Since that time, liberals protest the lack of plots for development activity. None of them Zaslavskaya those (sanctions, renovation, Bulk) could not be a sufficient information occasion to return society to the state until 2014, when every scandal or high-profile event caused considerable tension in the society (Pussy Riot, Bolotnaya, to discredit the Sochi Olympics).
Ever managed artificially to maintain a constant degree of conflict between the government and the society, so any infopovod immediately became a battleground between them. Now it’s not working. Therefore, liberal protest-the players want to knock the system out of equilibrium information – you need a series of new conflicts that will touch on deep social foundations. They strive to create the image of the state, opposed to tradition, and to make the traditional part of society to feel the stress emanating from the state. A month already traditional part of the society experiencing this tension. If it continues, we will not notice the moment when society falls into a psychological state 2013. It would mean the end of the current consensus.
The nature and direction of recent publications and reviews about the formation in Russia of supposedly “Orthodox extremism” and “Orthodox ISIL” (ISIS, the “Islamic state” is banned in Russia organization. – Approx. ed.), suggests that this topic is considered protest-liberal circles as the most effective for struggle against existing consensus.
The negative scenario of the situation as follows:
1. Liberal protest-players continue to protect and support cultural events (films, exhibitions) undertaken including for the state account and promotes the expression of controversial or provocative ideas for traditional values, morals, historical events and key figures. Active use of public funds and at the same time the accusation of state censorship and pressure for creative freedom (“Nureyev”) restricted the ability of governments to counteract these processes (“Matilda”), and sometimes force the authorities to support the directly controversial works of art. Because, traditionally, the majority cease to feel protection of their feelings by the state, it is looking for alternative instruments of protection.
2. Protest-liberal circles parallel to create two opposing and artificial image of the state: for traditional Russian majority – the image of the state, which allegedly fails to protect its citizens from attacks; foreign and liberal audience – the image of the state that is supposedly based on the Church and traditional values in society fosters extremist attitudes. As a result, in the information space is actually the feeling of the two countries and the ideological splits in the power elite, and also the division of society because of this.
3. Next protest-liberal circles there is a demand for violence in society. They are indirect support (through provoke) various radical groups, including artificial “groups-by-night” (e.g. “Christian nation”) who commit crimes, justifying Patriotic rhetoric. However, such extremists oppose the strengthening of the official state and ecclesiastical authorities and become an integral part of the protest movement.
Protest-liberal circles is beneficial to extremists loudly planted. They will blame the state and the Church in the support of extremism and at the same time to declare the convicted “prisoners of conscience” who have suffered from the authorities for their religious beliefs. As a result, this bi-directional and contradictory process – the struggle for the freedom of art and the support of the radicals – will create a perpetual state of provocation, inspiring the enmity between the government, society and Church. Protest-the liberal movement will continue to exert pressure on the government and at the same time to provoke radicalism in society. The government will continue the fight against radicalism, over time, inevitably putting under suspicion their wide range of Orthodox and Patriotic organizations. In fact, in the information space there artificial situation of opposition of the state and traditional social majority, which will lead to mutual distrust and will mark the end of the Crimean consensus.
Previously this engine was run-in, for example, on the “Russian March” (Russia), “the Right sector” (Ukraine) (banned in Russia organization. – Approx. ed.). In either case, revolutionary-minded circles, speaking at the European, liberal-democratic, globalist path of development that simultaneously supported and allied with the nationalist and other radical organizations isolationist nature. Common today emerged the phenomenon of “liberal nationalism” justifying the radical nationalists, active in the interests of the liberals. This Alliance was based on shared values and a common goal – to dismantle the current system of government and social institutions. Therefore, liberal protest-movement interested in the creation of the “Orthodox extremists”, albeit virtual, for use in the confrontation with the current government and the official Church (accused of servility).
