US police say an Instagram Live video helped lead to the arrest of a “most wanted” fugitive earlier this week.
Christopher Ricardo Gonzalez allegedly broadcast images of himself along with several guns in the Facebook-owned application.
Dallas police detectives say that the power identified the man’s location and passed these details to the los Angeles Police Department.
The los angeles police said they subsequently captured the 18-years of age approximately at 02:00 local time on Tuesday.
Gonzalez had been added to the Department of Public Safety’s Most wanted Fugitives list in August, after he was accused of murder, several home burglaries and participation in organized crime.
The los Angeles Times reports that he had tried to escape arrest by fleeing in a car when the officers arrived, but crashed into a pole and then was tracked by a police dog.Saved videos
Instagram has added the ability to stream live videos in November of 2016.
Previously, users were able to share the clips with only your friends in real time and the footage of self-destroys as soon as the current ended.
But earlier this year, the app adds the ability for members to share video replays within its news section, where others can see up to 24 hours.
Instagram records the users of the global positioning system (GPS) coordinates when you use the feature, in order to let others review their Stories by location.
The police of the united states refused to provide more information about Mr. Gonzalez alleged video because you said that “investigations are being actively exploited.”
Instagram video installation played an important role in another California-based detention earlier this year, after a driver was accused of having transmitted live from a car accident in which his sister died.
Obdulia Sanchez appeared in court last week, where the images that are said to have filmed was played.
The 18-year-old faces charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but his lawyer said that the tyres of your car were to blame.
