Art-pop band, Sofi Tukker function on the display for the new iPhone X – but who are you?
Formed in the year 2014, the New York duo Sophie Hawley-weld and Tucker Halpern (hence the name).
Your song, Best friends, recalls the anything-goes Psychedelic by Deee-Lite, with an infectious bassline punctuated by horn stabs and cowbells.
“Do you want my new girlfriend? We have a lot in common?” sing-speaks Hawley-weld in the track of the quirky choir.
The singer and guitarist in the lyrics, “addicted like some Pokemon”) met Halpern in an art gallery while studying at brown University in Rhode Island.
“I was playing acoustic bossa-nova music in the trio, and Tucker, the DJ, the night,” Hawley-weld of the Huffington Post said last year.
“He came out early and saw what we did, and the Remix ended up one of my songs on the spot… We have worked together ever since!”
Hawley was born in welding in Germany and grew up in the international school communities in Brazil, Italy, Canada and the Netherlands.
Their education made them to a variety of music as her studies in West African dance and drumming at the University – all of the filters in the band’s versatile sound.
Halpern, meanwhile, is a Boston native who was set to play professional basketball (he is 6ft 8in), until health problems forced him from the sport.

“Hello Aliens,” she said to Mat-Like. “We are Sofi said. This is as a dance, it is what people do when they want to be happy and feel free. Us be friends!”
