Russia supplies oil to the DPRK – us media

After the tightening of economic sanctions by the US and China, North Korea started to receive petroleum products and certain goods from Russia. Such information was published edition of the Washington Post.

According to the newspaper, the delivery of goods was engaged in some private companies from Russia.

“Whenever they are cut off from their main supplier, they are just trying to get him (goods – Ed.) from another place”, – said a senior official.

The publication also claims, citing documents and interviews with representatives of the authorities that in the spring of 2017 increased the intensity of tanker traffic between the Russian ports of Vladivostok and North Korea. This trend increased after the tightening of economic sanctions by China against Pyongyang.

The main goods that were transported from Russia, was the fuel that North Korea cannot produce by itself. In addition, the U.S. Department allegedly revealed the supply to the DPRK of the Russian industrial equipment, ore and luxury items.

The article notes that Russian entrepreneurs use economic alliances with North Korea “for a quick profit.” It is reported about the whole “maze of companies to disguise the transactions and the laundering of payments”.

According to the newspaper, trade growth of Russian entrepreneurs with the DPRK have led to the introduction in August of the US Treasury Department sanctions against Russian citizens.

It is noted that in the United States recognized the impossibility to interfere with delivery of fuel for “Russian tankers” in North Korea, while official Russia closes it’s eyes.

We will remind, in the night from 11 to 12 September, Kyiv time , the UN security Council imposed new sanctions against the DPRK, which will significantly limit the export and import capabilities of Pyongyang. Such measures were taken in connection with the nuclear program of the DPRK.
