Climbers have repaired storm-damaged cross Valdai Cathedral

Veliky Novgorod. August 17. INTERFAX – a Group of industrial climbers at height of 30 meters repaired cross Valdai Holy Trinity Cathedral, damaged in the storm, reported “Interfax” on Thursday in the Novgorod Archdiocese.

“Mountaineers climbed the domes of the Cathedral, straightened, and welded to the vertically fixed cross, which after the storm was bent parallel to the ground,” – said the Agency interlocutor.

As reported, storm front with Gale force winds passed through the territory of the Novgorod region on August 13. Most suffered from the disaster of the Valdai district, where remained without electricity for about 4 thousand people, was more than 150 fallen trees that had closed the highway. With a falling tree injured one person.

The Holy Trinity Cathedral in Valday was erected in 1744. The bell tower was added to the temple in 1837. In 2000 it set the city chimes.
