José Mourinho has denied that Manchester United are now a “dream team” following Sunday’s 4-0 victory over West Ham United at Old Trafford.
The victory was arguably the best display by the Portuguese 12-month term of office as a Romelu Lukaku double plus goals from Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba was United in the early Premier League leaders on goal difference.
But Mourinho said: “I’m stable and to learn to lose, to lose my discipline, my stability and think that a 4-0 result us the best team in the country, the favorites or the dream team. We are not the favorites, we are the dream team, we are only to trust a team with more even than in the last season, with more time to work, more happiness and more relaxed. Then I’m relieved. When I look at the last game I liked many, many things, but the challenge is not to repeat the result, because 4-0 in the Premier League is not easy, but to repeat the same type of performance.
Romelu Lukaku is Manchester United’s dream start against West Ham
“Good tactical discipline in the team, a really good, clean sheet, good football, good momentum in the attack. We try to score more goals and try to play well. I liked it very much. I also like the three U-boats, as a rule, the people are to be disappointed, on the Bank, but also for five minutes, like Jesse [Lingard], 10 Anthony [of War] or 15 [Marouane] Fellaini, they came and stood at the same level.
“And if I’m in the stands at the players, I don’t choose to be happy. It is only the beginning. In the last season, from the first three matches we had nine points and was sixth, so I’m not going to lose stability, after a good first day and will not allow the player to think differently to me.”
Mourinho said he could not. the fourth new player to support targeted on the starting in the summer window and the 54-year-old acquire the market close for the Premier League too early Associations are brought forward is to vote next month on the due date for the 2018/19 season.
Mourinho said: “I had a meeting with a representative of the Premier League and gave my opinion, but in the end the clubs will vote. Obviously, the democratic way, the decision is the decision that the majority of the clubs support and a voice. I’m going to meet with Mr. [Ed] Woodward [the United executive vice-chairman], because I know he will want to, share my opinion, so I think very soon we will make a decision.
“My opinion is that we have to adjust for the situation, it doesn’t matter what. But as a football manager and not a market of man – only a football man, only as someone who wants to work with the team, working with the players – I would prefer to close the window, as soon as possible.
“So each of the players, which we know, and the transactions are made earlier and no one would wait on you, for the last week, and we would not have the situation, sometimes a player plays the game No1 for a team and game No2 for a different team.
“And the question mark, someone asks – if there are other leagues, we are not in the vicinity at the same time, in danger of losing players in the last couple of weeks? My question is, how many clubs in the world are strong enough to buy the best players in the Premier League and the answer, I think, is very obvious. So the risk is minimal and also the powerful clubs know, if we can’t buy, after, say, 14 or 15 of August, more or less, if we sell it not players we are buying.
“So, if you are interested in players from the Premier League, you need to do it before the limit. So again, I repeat, do not, I’m a market person but as a football manager I would like to close it before the first match.”
In relation to the production of a fourth, the signing of those consequences of Lukaku, Victor Lindlof and Nemanja Matic, said the manager: “I believe that we, if something happens to us on the market again. I said to Mr Woodward, my plans were only four, but I told him to be cool, without pressure from me, do what you think is best for the club.
“We will be together again for another transfer window in January and next summer, so no pressure from me at all. I’m happy with the squad we have. I’m ready to go, without the fourth player. If we are out of the market, I’m fine, I’m ready.”
