Moscow. 7 Aug. INTERFAX – the World, the Central district court of Sochi has sentenced a local resident Viktor Nochevnova to 50 thousand roubles of the penalty for a repost on his page “Vkontakte” the seven cartoons depicting Jesus Christ, said “Interfax” the lawyer Alexander Popkov.
The court found that from 20 Oct 2014 to 31 August 2015, during the Christian holidays of the Pskov-Pechersk icon of the Mother of God “Tenderness” icon of the Mother of God “vsetsaritsa”, Christmas eve, the eve of the celebration of Easter and during Easter V. Nochevnov published on his personal page “Vkontakte” seven caricatures with the image of Jesus Christ – in particular, hanging on the bar, dancing in the stadium, working on exercise equipment, and is also depicted in the form of a weightlifter on the background of the Olympic rings.
According to the verdict, V. Nochevnov “due to the lack of established principles of behavior, and well-formed critical faculties were influenced by the ideas, expressing extreme intolerance to the adherents of Christianity – the Christians, the result of which was to oppose the accepted social norms and values, to show aggression to the above group of believers, and all believers”.
“Speaking at the inquest as a witness by the Dean of the churches of Sochi and the rector of the Prince Vladimir Church Sochi Andrei Dubrovsky said that he regarded the cartoons as blasphemy, incitement to religious hatred, provocation and insulting the feelings of believers Orthodox Christians, citing established in the year 787 the doctrine of the Universal Christian Church – the veneration of icons. He called the provocative cartoons because of the “reduced use of the sacred image,” said the defender.
A. Popkov said that until the sentence comes into legal force the court left the man a measure of restraint in the form of subscriptions on parole and good behavior.
He V. Nochevnov not admit his guilt. “He had no purpose to insult someone. Now, after receiving the text of the court decision on hands, will prepare an appeal, to appeal this verdict,” the lawyer said.
