Moscow. 7 Aug. INTERFAX – large-Scale celebrations dedicated to the anniversary of the canonization and the 200th anniversary of the death of Admiral Fyodor Ushakov took place in Mordovia.
“To participate in activities in Mordovia profit public figures, bishops, representatives of the Baltic, North and black sea fleets, the chief of Department on work with personnel of the Armed forces of Russia, Colonel Mikhail Baryshev, and a relative of the Admiral – the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, major General of medical service Igor Ushakov”, – said the Russian defense Ministry.
The defense Ministry reminded that the blessing of Patriarch Kirill of the power of the Admiral was taken to the Naval Cathedral of Kronstadt, on the occasion of celebration of Day of the Navy. At the end of the celebration of Navy Day the relics were returned to Mordovia.
Admiral F. Ushakov was canonized in 2001 by the Russian Orthodox Church. He went down in history as the undefeated naval commander who never lost a ship, nor one of his subordinates was not captured.
