DONETSK, Aug 3 – RIA Novosti. The US decision to supply weapons to Ukraine will be perceived by Kiev as a message for waging war in the Donbass, said the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk national Republic (DND) Alexander Zakharchenko.
Earlier, the Wall Street Journal, citing U.S. officials reported that the Pentagon and the US state Department has developed a plan of supplying Ukraine with antitank missiles and other weapons. Approval from the White house has not yet been reported.
“Any weapons that America will give to Ukraine will be considered (Kiev – ed.) as encouragement to attack. America wants to disrupt the Minsk format, want to disrupt channel four, it is very important in this process to attach themselves. If it (the decision on the supply of arms – ed.) will be at the level of the law accepted in the United States, it will be a public promise to ensure that Ukraine needs to start a war,” he told reporters Zakharchenko.
As previously stated the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the possible supply to Ukraine from the United States American anti-tank missiles, all countries, especially applying for a role in conflict resolution, must avoid actions that may provoke a new spiral of tension.
Against arms deliveries to Ukraine also supported the majority of European politicians. Thus, the ex-foreign Minister of Germany, former Chairman of the OSCE, the President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier said earlier that the supply of weapons to Ukraine are very risky and counterproductive way out of the crisis. The Chairman of the NATO military Committee Petr Pavel said that he sees no need to supply lethal weapons to Kiev, because it “will only increase the suffering of the people.”
