The Ecumenical Patriarch called the conflict in the Donbas “fratricidal war” and prayed for peace in Ukraine

Moscow. July 19. INTERFAX – Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew sent a message to Ukrainian journalists, which recognized the conflict in the Donbas “fratricidal war”.

“We send blessings and Express our concern of every Ukrainian without exception. We pray for the unity of the Ukrainian people. We pray for peace in Ukraine. Our hope is that the fratricidal war was stopped,” – said the Patriarch in a message posted on the official website of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.

Commenting on the letter on Wednesday, the newspaper “NG-Religions” suggests that the appeal of Patriarch Bartholomew is “a signal of the Moscow Patriarchate about a desire of Constantinople to start a dialogue and improving bilateral relations.”

“The only question is how the Ecumenical Patriarch is ready to compromise and to sacrifice their own ambitions”, – the newspaper writes.
