In the United first two games of their tour, Mourinho fielded has different Axis in the first and second halves, and each has. as strong as the other United win against Real Salt Lake to a 5-2 victory over LA Galaxy followed.
“We are definitely much stronger this year,” Jones. “We have recruited well, great Rom the front of a threat that hand is full. Victor came in and looks like he’s been here for five years. We are positive and we look forward to seeing you.
“There is strength in depth and that is what we need. This is what the manager said, we needed. He recruited well, we all work well and gel well and look forward to the start of the season, but we have some big games.”
Last season United have won two trophies, the League Cup and the Europa League, the latter guaranteed a place in the Champions League, despite finishing sixth in the Premier League. “I think, slowly but surely, we get back the winning mentality,” Jones said. “It’s taken time, but I think we get it now. Hopefully this season every time another team enters the Old Trafford know that you are in for a tough time. I think we saw that last season when we drew too many at home. But we put that right this season, and we look forward to seeing you.
“In any case, it has given us the basis to try and win the title again. This is what we need to do in this season. Last season was not disappointing in the League, but we are in the Europa League so that was bad. This year, we definitely have to start a challenge for the title. There is no question about it, but I think we can definitely do it with this squad.”
Jones added: “those Who have always played I, under Ferguson, Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Mourinho – if I are already fit, then the majority of the time I’ve played. If there is competition from other players, competition. There are some great defenders at the club. This is as it should be as well. You want to test yourself against the best of the best and with the best and that is what we have.”
