In Mukachevo Ukrainian renamed the streets of Shukhevych and Bandera in honor of the two Church leaders

Kiev. July 6. INTERFAX – the City Council of Mukachevo Transcarpathian region of Ukraine made the decision on renaming of street of Stepan Bandera in honor of the former head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (2001-2011) Lubomyr Husar, and the streets of Roman Shukhevych – in honor of another former head of UKHC (1900-1944) Andrey Sheptytsky.

As reported on the official website Mukachevo city Council on Thursday, a decision the city Council made after considering appeals by citizens.

In addition, it was decided to call the branch St. the Labor impasse Moskal – in honor of the head of the Transcarpathian regional state administration Gennady Moskal.

“Taking into account the proposals of the Commission on historic preservation, the names and renaming of streets, establishment of memorable signs in the city of Mukachevo city Council session decided to set the branch street name Labor stalled Gennady Moskal”, – stated in the message.

According to media reports, the streets of Bandera and Shukhevych in Mukachevo received their names just three months ago, and Moskal inaugurated renamed St. Shukhevych only on 30 June.
