Patriarch Kirill will consecrate the Cathedral of Christ the Savior monument to commemorate the reunification of the Russian Church in the Fatherland and abroad

Moscow. June 16. INTERFAX – Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill on Sunday will make the consecration of the monument “Reunion” at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

Sculptural composition devoted to a historical event – the signing of the Act of canonical communion of the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church abroad, which was held at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior on may 17, 2007, reports the Patriarchal press service.

In the composition of bronze depicted the now deceased Patriarch Alexy II and the first Hierarch of ROCOR, Metropolitan new York Laurel, standing on a broken globe, and holding in his hand the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, and signed the act.

In September 2015, the monument to Alexy II and Metropolitan Laurus opened in the Kursk region on the territory of the monastery “Korennaya Pustyn”. The opening of the monument “Reunion” was timed to stay in Kursk, the main Shrine of the Russian Orthodox Church of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God “the Sign”, which resides in the United States.

Another monument to Alexy II and Metropolitan Laurus, was opened in December 2015 at the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in the American city of Howell, in the diocesan center of the Eastern American diocese of ROCOR.
