In the SBU hope for a breakthrough in the negotiations for the hostages

As expected in the SBU, progress on the release of the hostages in the Donbas, can be reached at tomorrow’s meeting of the TAG in Minsk.

The head of the joint center for release of hostages at SBU Yuri Kochanov expects that tomorrow, may 24, in Minsk during a meeting of the Trilateral contact group on settling the situation in Donbas (TAG) there will be progress in the issue of the release of the hostages.

About this Kochanov said in comments to journalists in Kyiv today. “We have tomorrow (during the meeting of the Trilateral contact group in Minsk – ed.) will speak about specific numbers, specific names and specific dates when we can exchange. We think and hope that tomorrow will be constructive and we will be able to advance very much in this process,” he said.

“Verification complete, for each person has a certain position – or he wants or does not want to go to the territory (ORDO – ed.) within the exchange process,” said Kochanov.

“I can’t talk about dates (the exchange of prisoners – ed.), we will try to have it as soon as possible. What’s on that site that are on our territory, persons in different procedural statuses: some may be transferred sooner, others later, as the procedure of pardon by the President of Ukraine takes some time; also applied to certain individuals ongoing trial,” said Kochanov.

“We’re going to talk about, and the alleged representatives ORDO agree that this will be a gradual change, but we need to define quantitative composition. Will the total number be the initial terms,” he said.

Answering clarifying question about the approximate timing of a possible exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and ORDO, Kochanov said: “I hope that within a month. I very much hope that we will come to it; if everything is cool then we can talk about the week.”
