WASHINGTON, may 24 – RIA Novosti. The US administration has submitted to Congress the draft budget of the Ministry of defence, which provides a substantial increase in funds for the “Initiative on European security”.
According to the request of the White house, in the 2018 fiscal year, which begins on 1 October 2017, the program plans to allocate $ 4.8 billion, whereas in the current financial year it has allocated 3.4 billion.
The United States launched the “Initiative to ensure the security of Europe” (European Reassurance Initiative) in 2014 in response to “Russia’s aggressive actions”. It provides for “a security guarantee to European allies,” which in practice is implemented as the deployment of additional NATO forces near the border with Russia.
