The international basketball Federation allowed to wear the hijab

Moscow. May 4. INTERFAX – the international basketball Federation (FIBA) changed the rules relating to the appearance of athletes, and allowed to appear at the event in hijabs.

As informs Bi-Bi-si, the new rules have already been approved and will come into force on 1 October.

Previously, the hijab was banned because of security reasons.

“New rule adopted, as the traditional dress code in some countries requires to cover his head that did not fit the rules,” the statement said by FIBA.

One of the biggest scandals on this topic broke out in 2014, when the female national team of Qatar has withdrawn from participation in the Asian games after she was banned from playing in hijabs.

Earlier, the international football Federation (FIFA) has allowed women for religious reasons to play with his head covered.
